Police and Crime Commissioners

I liaise regularly with other Commissioners and keep abreast of their work. We have a national association which represents us.

Every three months I meet formally with Welsh Commissioners – from Gwent, North Wales and South Wales – and Chief Constables in the All Wales Policing Group.

Forty-one police forces across England and Wales each have their own Police and Crime Commissioner.

Their main duties and responsibilities are laid down in UK Government legislation. Commissioners were first elected in November 2012; the second election was in May 2016.

Forces that do not have a Commissioner include the British Transport Police, the Civil Nuclear Constabulary, the Ministry of Defence Police, the City of London Police and the Metropolitan Police.
