On Friday 4 March 2022, Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llywelyn will hold his sixth consecutive annual St David’s Day Conference at Dyfed-Powys Police Headquarters in Carmarthen.

Previous Conferences have focused on Coercive Control (2017); Mental Health in Policing (2018); Cyber-Crime (2019); Rural Crime (2020) and Victims (2021).

This year, the focus of the PCC’s Conference is on Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) with guest speakers including the National Police Chief Constable Lead on Antisocial Behaviour, Andy Prophet, who is Deputy Chief Constable of Essex Police, and Charlotte Hamilton-Kay who is the Specialist Victim Project Manager with ASB Help – a charity set up to provide advice and support to victims of anti-social behaviour.

Dyfed Powys Police are proud to be the first in Wales to take the ‘ASB Pledge’ with ASB Help which demonstrates their commitment to reducing anti-social behaviour and providing victims the opportunity to request a review.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn said “ASB can have an overwhelming impact on its victims and, in some cases, on the wider community. In my new Police and Crime Plan published earlier this year, I have highlighted preventing harm caused by crime and ASB as a priority.

“An effective response to ASB requires innovation, a strong partnership between local agencies, and a mindset that puts victims first.

“This year’s conference will shine a light on the important challenge we face and opportunities available in tackling ASB and I look forward to welcoming everyone.”

As part of the Conference, Dyfed-Powys Police ASB Force Co-ordinator Jessica Thomas will be leading on the input on the Dyfed-Powys approach to tackling ASB, which include how the force captures, records and manages anti-social behaviour; the role of co-ordinators and mediators, and the low level intervention and restorative approaches.  There will also be Divisional Lightning Talks as well as an input from victims of ASB and local partners.

Last year’s Conference was held online due to the restrictions in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  This year, the Conference will be online with a limited number of spaces available for individuals to attend the Conference in person, at the Police Headquarters in Carmarthen.
