On Thursday 31 March 2022, Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn will host a live ‘Commissioner in Conversation’ broadcast on social media with Dyfed-Powys Police’s new Chief Constable, Dr. Richard Lewis.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn appointed Dr. Richard Lewis to the Chief Constable role last year following the retirement of Mark Collins. Dr Lewis had served as the Chief Constable of Cleveland Police since April 2019.

Originally from Carmarthenshire, his career in the police service started in 2000. During his 18 years in Dyfed-Powys Police he served in every rank up to Deputy Chief Constable, working in all four counties in the force. He has also been the head of the professional standards department and chaired the Wales Counter Corruption Working Group.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn has recently published his new Police and Crime Plan for 2021-2025, which sets out his vision and priorities for Dyfed-Powys Police.  Since starting in his role in December 2021, Chief Constable Richard Lewis has been consulting and engaging both within and outside of the Dyfed Powys organisation, to ensure communities and the workforce have a voice in shaping plans for the future, and that the Force can deliver against the PCC’s priorities.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn said: “Dr Richard Lewis has a fantastic track record of fighting crime and managing community policing. His vast experience and understanding of policing as well as his knowledge of the Dyfed-Powys area puts him in a good place to support the priorities in my Police and Crime Plan.

“I look forward to discussing live in public with him on Thursday evening.  We will aim to have an open discussion about the current challenges and opportunities for Dyfed Powys Police, as well as what we want to achieve within our roles, and hopefully take some questions from viewers”.

The Commissioner in Conversation with Chief Constable Dr Richard Lewis will be broadcasted live on Thursday evening 31 March 2022, at 8:00pm on the Dyfed-Powys Office of Police and Crime Commissioner’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/DPOPCC.
