Research and Guidance

  • Aberystwyth University Rural Crime Study - June 2022 - This report is the third in a biennial series of evaluations of the rural crime and policing initiatives developed across Dyfed-Powys; in addition to the regional examinations which have been published in 2017 and 2019, for the first time this year the survey was extended across all four police forces in Wales. Together with this wider focus beyond Dyfed-Powys, the current survey also targeted rural residents more generally – alongside the farming community – to ascertain their views on policing, crime and wider impacts from Covid and Brexit.
  • Aberystwyth Rural Crime Study –December 2017 - This report focuses on rural and farm crime in the Dyfed-Powys policing area its purpose was to address specific needs of Dyfed-Powys Police (DPP) surrounding the recording and investigation of farm and rural crime.

  • CCTV Guidelines July 2015
    Detailing the minimum standards for CCTV provision in a public space or licensed premises to adopt a common standard across Dyfed-Powys. Reviewed by Dyfed-Powys Police every year.
  • CCTV Review – 2014 summary
    An assessment of the value of Dyfed-Powys publicly funded CCTV in supporting Police and Crime Plan. It informed a CCTV strategy for the region. Full report
  • Performance Management Survey – 2014
    A review of performance management by Dyfed-Powys Police and my office. It was undertaken by Crest Advisory. My response
  • Policing Rural Communities – 2015
    A study – known as Rural Connect – into how Dyfed-Powys Police can connect with people living in rural communities. It was undertaken by UPSI, The Universities’ Police Science Institute. My response
  • Rural Crime and Policing Literature Review – 2015
    A look at research literature on rural crime and policing to help understand what works in this area. It was undertaken by UPSI, The Universities’ Police Science Institute.
