National Hate Crime Awareness Week is a national initiative that supports victims and engages communities to combat and raise awareness of hate crime in the UK. The theme for 2025 is Disability Hate Crime to highlight the barriers and challenges faced by people with disabilities.

As part of Hate Crime Awareness Week, the Police and Crime Commissioner is hosting an online webinar to shine light on the impact of hate crime, the importance of reporting it, and the support available to victims.

The session will be chaired by Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn, with inputs from Dyfed-Powys Victim Support and Dyfed-Powys Police. Together, speakers will explore the barriers people face in reporting hate crime, share insight into the local landscape and discuss how services and partners can work together to tackle these harmful offences.

Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llywelyn, says,

“Ensuring people with disabilities feel safe, supported, and heard is a vital part of my role as PCC. This webinar is an important opportunity to acknowledge and highlight the challenges people with disabilities face surrounding hate crimes. I encourage everyone to attend the webinar, listen and learn so we can continue to make everyone feel safe in our Dyfed-Powys communities.”
