Community Engagement Day in Llanelli
Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dafydd Llywelyn spent the day in Llanelli on Wednesday 13th May as part of a community engagement visit, meeting with different organisations across the community.
The PCC spent the first part of the Community Engagement Day visiting Threshold in their new office in Llanelli. Threshold is a key organisation who are committed to the elimination of violence and abuse against women, men and young people, and those who are perpetrators. The visit continued to highlight the important services Threshold provide such as refuge, counselling and mediation services.
After, the Police and Crime Commissioner visited the local police station to speak with the Llanelli Neighbourhood Policing and Prevention Team (NPPT). Discussions were held around local successes, challenges for locals, and the importance of policing being visible in communities.
During the afternoon, the PCC met with different team members from Victim Support. This included team members from Hate Crime Wales, Multi-Crime, and Witness Service. All three teams within Victim Support provide vital help to those who have been victim or affected by crime.
Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“Speaking with Threshold, Llanelli NPPT’s and Victim Support has been incredibly insightful and given me the opportunity to learn more about issues Dyfed-Powys communities face. The vital work these teams do for our communities is recognised and highly appreciated by myself and those who may need their services.”
