The Government will carry out a public test of its national Emergency Alert system on 7 September 2025 at 3 pm.

During the test, compatible mobile phones and devices will make a loud sound and vibration and display a message on the screen. The alert is part of a national programme to ensure people can receive information quickly during emergencies. The test will only be sent once.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Dyfed‑Powys is encouraging residents to be aware of the test and understand what to expect.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn said:

“The Emergency Alert system is an important tool to keep people informed and safe during emergencies. While this is only a test, some residents, including survivors of domestic abuse or those in vulnerable situations, may wish to review the guidance on managing alerts on their devices.”

Residents can find information and support from our commissioned services here: Dyfed‑Powys OPCC Services.

Official guidance from the Government, including advice for those who may need to manage or opt out of the alert, is available here: Public Testing of Emergency Alerts.
