Today, on Emergency Services Day (999 Day), Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn is joining people across the UK in recognising and thanking all those who serve in emergency services.

Emergency Services Day is held each year on 9 September to celebrate the incredible work of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, NHS staff, search and rescue teams, the coastguard, and many more who respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Commissioner Llywelyn is taking this opportunity to acknowledge the vital role that emergency service workers play in keeping our communities safe.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“Today is about shining a spotlight on the selfless individuals who dedicate their lives to helping others. The emergency services are the frontline of our public services, responding in times of crisis, offering reassurance in the face of danger, and working tirelessly to protect us all.

“Across the Dyfed-Powys area, we are incredibly lucky to have committed, professional emergency service teams who serve our communities with courage and compassion. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to all those who put themselves forward to serve, whether as frontline responders, control room staff, volunteers, or support teams behind the scenes. “

The OPCC continues to work closely with members of the public to learn mor about the work of the emergency services and to consider volunteering opportunities in support of them.
