On Friday 4th July 2025, former Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, Iwan Jenkins was awarded at Dyfed-Powys Police’s Annual Award Ceremony.

Mr Jenkins was presented with the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Partnership Award in recognition of his active involvement in the work of both local and national criminal justice partnerships over years gone by until his recent retirement.

Iwan Jenkins joined the CPS in 1992 having worked as a criminal defence solicitor for several years. He led various teams and workstreams within CPS Cymru-Wales, including Crown Court, Rape and Serious Sexual Offences, and Complex Case Unit.  Up until his recent retirement he was the acting Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor with responsibility for Complex Case Unit and Magistrates Court work.
Iwan was the area lead for several projects. Most recently, he led the engagement with Welsh Government in planning and delivering the changes brought about by the Children (Abolition of Defence of Reasonable Punishment) (Wales) Act 2020.

Iwan qualified as a Higher Court Advocate in 1999 and has prosecuted trials in the Crown Court and appeared in the Court of Appeal.

In 2019 Iwan was appointed President of the Welsh Language Tribunal and is a regular contributor on legal issues in the Welsh Language media landscape.

In presenting Iwan Jenkins the Award, Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys, Dafydd Llywelyn said, “Criminal Justice Boards provide a valuable forum for cross organisational working and ensure that those affected by crime are provided with the best possible services to support them through the criminal justice process.

“This work depends largely on the commitment of partners and Iwan’s leadership, engagement and contribution to this work have been appreciated not just by myself as Police and Crime Commissioner, but by all members of our Local Criminal Justice Board.

“In particular we are grateful for Iwan’s contributions to progressing the victims’ agenda, and the lead he took in the DA attrition piece of work, both of which are key priorities for me and Dyfed-Powys Police.”

In receiving the award, Mr Iwan Jenkins said: "It was a great personal honour for me to receive this award whilst recognising that success in public service work is only possible through the commitment of colleagues across many agencies."
