PCC Dafydd Llywelyn Holds Community Engagement Day in Pembrokeshire
Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dafydd Llywelyn spent the day in Pembrokeshire on Thursday 22nd January, for his first Community Engagement Day of 2026, meeting with young people, community members, volunteers, and police officers.
The day started with the Police and Crime Commissioner visiting Pembrokeshire College, where he met with several students and a volunteer who has recently joined the Youth Ambassador Scheme. It was a chance for young people in Pembrokeshire to raise concerns and local issues faced by young people today.
In the afternoon, PCC Llywelyn visited Pembrokeshire People First (PPF) in Haverfordwest. The drop-in session followed a headquarters visit from Pembrokeshire People First in November, where members discussed policing and community safety. The drop-in session provided an opportunity to discuss challenges faced by adults with learning disabilities and/or autism in Dyfed-Powys communities.
Later in the afternoon, the Commissioner headed to Haverfordwest Police Station to meet with two Independent Custody Visitors (ICVs) and police officers. The role of an Independent Custody Visitor is to visit police custody areas to check on the wellbeing of detainees and to ensure that their rights are upheld. The PCC shadowed one of the volunteers’ visits in Haverfordwest Custody Suite.
Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“Community Engagement Days give me invaluable insight into local communities in the Dyfed-Powys policing area. Each visit gives me a better understanding of the opinions of the public, councillors, and local organisations and businesses, and policing priorities. I’d like to thank all those who took time out of their day to meet with me. Diolch yn fawr!”
