Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn visited Ysgol Pen Rhos to help launch West Wales’s first ever Mini Police programme.

The programme will see Year 5 and Year 6 pupils take on fun, engaging activities that introduce them to local policing, community safety and positive citizenship. As part of his commitment to supporting young people across the Dyfed-Powys area, the PCC has funded the pupils’ new Mini Police uniforms to help bring the project to life.

Speaking at the launch, PCC Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“I’m pleased to support the very first Mini Police cohort here in West Wales. The programme is a brilliant way to build confidence, strengthen community links and help young people understand the important role policing plats in keeping us all safe.”

The Mini Police initiative is a national scheme led by policing teams across the UK, giving children early opportunities to learn about safety, respect and the responsibilities of being part of their community.

Councillor Louvain Roberts said:
“It was wonderful to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they proudly put on their Mini Police uniforms. I am delighted to have helped bring this project to our community and I am grateful to Commissioner Llywelyn for his support. This programme gives our young people a positive, memorable introduction to policing, and its clear from today’s launch just how much it already means to them."
