The conference will feature contributions from national and academic experts, including Chief Inspector Scott Lloyd, National Science and Innovation Coordinator at the National Police Chief’s Council (NPCC), who will speak on the use of facial recognition technology in policing, and Andrew Saniforth, whose research explores the adoption of artificial intelligence across police forces in England and Wales.

These sessions will be complemented by a range of internal presentation showcasing how technology is being used within Dyfed-Powys to improve public contact, tackle cyber-crime, strengthen investigations and support officers and staff alongside discussion of emerging tools and future innovation.

Commissioner Llywelyn said:
“Technology is playing an increasingly important role in how we protect communities, support victims and respond to crime. This year’s St David’s Day Conference will provide an opportunity to explore how digital tools, innovation and evidence-led approaches are being used responsibly, while maintaining public trust and accountability.

“I would like to thank our speakers for sharing their time and expertise. Hearing national, academic and local perspectives on technology and innovation in policing will make for an engaging programme and I am very much looking forward to the discussions this will generate.”
