Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn has today (5 July) announced that he will be investing £50k into the wards of Glan-y-môr and Tyisha.
This follows recent consultation where numerous community safety concerns were highlighted, including the presence of drugs in the area.
The Commissioner made the announcement during a visit to Llanelli whilst meeting with community members and local businesses.
The investment into Glan-y-môr and Tyisha will be financed from monies recovered by Dyfed-Powys Police under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), which allows the police to confiscate or recover the proceeds of crime from a criminal.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“I am delighted to announce that I will be investing £50k into the communities of Glan-y-môr and Tyisha with the aim of improving community safety. By reinvesting proceeds of crime back into our communities, I am confident it will have a positive impact on Glan-y-môr and Tyisha, and will help residents feel safe.
“I plan to invest in community safety initiatives and projects which will respond to current local issues. It’s important that the investment is driven by the local community; I look forward to working closely with the community, local partners and the police in moving this forward”.
