PCC Dafydd Llywelyn holds Community Engagement Day in Carmarthenshire
On Wednesday 12th November, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Dafydd Llywelyn spent the day visiting areas of Carmarthenshire for his latest Community Engagement Day. The Community Engagement Day had a focus on road safety, with Road Safety Week upcoming.
Road Safety Week 2025 takes place across the week of 16th to 22nd of November, with the aim of increasing awareness of road safety and the impact road accidents and deaths can have on family, friends and local communities.
The day began visiting Go Safe in Cross Hands, where PCC Dafydd Llywelyn met with members of staff to discuss road safety within the Dyfed-Powys policing area. Operation Snap is a Dyfed Powys Police and Go Safe platform where members of the public can submit video evidence of driving offences in the area. The aim of the secure online platform is to improve road safety through prosecuting drivers committing offences. For more information on report, click here.
During the afternoon, PCC Llywelyn travelled to Red Street in Carmarthen town centre to join local Neighbourhood PPT’s (NPPT’s) who hosted an on-street briefing. With e-bikes and e-scooters becoming increasingly popular in the Force area, the briefing discussed e-bikes and e-scooters. The public are advised not to buy them as gifts on the run up to Christmas, as they are illegal and can be dangerous to yourself and others.
Police and Crime Commissioner, Dafydd Llywelyn, said:
“It was great to join Go Safe and local NPPT’s today to see firsthand how they are making roads safer. Road Safety Week is an important opportunity to remind those who walk, cycle or drive that safety on our roads is everybody’s responsibility. My visit to Go Safe and the NPPT on-street briefing highlighted the impacts of road injury or death can have on not only the individual but entire communities in the Dyfed-Powys area. Thank you to all those I spoke with today, and to those who attended the briefing in Carmarthen.”
