Dafydd Llywelyn, Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys, has launched a public consultation on police funding for 2019/20.
In launching the consultation for the 2019/20 police precept, Dafydd Llywelyn said:
“I have asked the Chief Constable to assess the budget requirement for Dyfed-Powys Police for next year. His assessment is that up to £105.3M will need to be spent on policing Dyfed-Powys in 2019/20, to keep our communities safe.
The police precept is the amount you pay as part of your council tax and is used for local policing services. The average Band D property currently pays £224.56 a year.
Your precept is an essential part of police funding, without which we could not maintain a police service that effectively and efficiently responds to the needs of your community. This income is in addition to Home Office and other grants, albeit the Home Office contribution is yet to be announced.”
Before the Commissioner can set the budget for next year, it’s important that he gets your views. In order to help you make your decision, within the survey, the Commissioner has demonstrated the impact of what it would mean for you and Dyfed-Powys Police if:
1) You pay no additional precept;
2) You pay an additional £1 per month;
3) You pay an additional £1.50 per month; and if
4) You pay an additional £2 per month.
Dafydd Llywelyn adds: “I am urging the residents of Dyfed-Powys to voice their opinion on this critical issue to ensure that we, as a Police Force, can continue to safeguard our communities with the highest standard of service available”.
