This week, the Police and Crime Commissioner has launched a public survey to gather the views of the public on policing and crime matters in the Dyfed-Powys area.

The survey will ask the general public to indicate how safe they feel in they area, what steps can be taken improve support for victims, prevent crime and what they believe can be done to ensure we have an effective criminal justice system.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said: “As the Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys, I want to ensure that I provide opportunities for people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds to be heard, share their views and help shape policy.

“Responses to this survey will provide me with an indication of the public perception of policing in our area and of the progress made towards the outcomes set under the 2021-25 Police and Crime Plan priorities.”

“Staff from my Office will be busy at the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells throughout the week engaging and consulting on our survey, and I look forward to visiting the show on Wednesday to engage with the public and our key partners”.

The survey is open to all in Dyfed-Powys to take part in.  People who are not visiting the Royal Welsh Show, can find a link to complete the online survey here:

Staff from the Office of Police and Crime Commissioner will be exhibiting alongside Dyfed-Powys Police at stand number E340 throughout the week.

On Monday 18 July, the public are being encouraged to visit the Dyfed-Powys Police stand to find out more about the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Volunteering Schemes.  On the stand will be volunteers from Police and Crime Commissioner’s Animal Welfare Visitors Scheme, Independent Custody Visitors’ scheme, and his Quality Assurance Panel, to talk to the public about the work they are doing to support the Police and Crime Commissioner.

On Tuesday and Wednesday the focus will be on Commissioned Services. The Police and Crime Commissioner commissions services directly from specialist providers to help prevent crime, support the vulnerable and tackle issues that are important to the public in Dyfed-Powys, and representatives from the PCC’s Commissioned Services will be at the stand to talk more about their work.

Thursday will focus on Young People as the PCC looks to recruit additional members to his Youth Forum.  Join the staff at the stand to find out more about the work of the youth forum, and how to apply to become a member.  Also on the stand on Thursday will be staff from Crimestoppers’ Fearless campaign; Llamau, who are one of the leading homelessness charity in Wales, supporting the most vulnerable young people and women.  Staff from Swansea City AFC Foundation who have been commissioned by Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn to provide free PL Kicks football sessions to young people across the Force area with the aim of diverting young people from crime will also be at the stand on Thursday to talk more about the PL Kicks initiative.

As well as the public survey that has been launched this week, the Police and Crime Commissioner will also be consulting with young people through a separate consultation. The Youth survey aims to identify what young people’s priorities for the police are, how safe do they feel, and how we can improve our policing service for young people.

Join us at the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells between 18 – 21 July to find out more about all the work on stand number E340.
