Police CCTV is Now Operating in Milford Haven
Four new CCTV cameras have been installed in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire.
They are located at Upper Charles Street, Lower Charles Street, Hamilton Terrace and Great North Road.
The installation has taken place over the last month and the cameras are now live and recording. They will be centrally monitored at Dyfed-Powys Police Headquarters.
The work has been carried out as part of the Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn’s reinvestment in the CCTV provision across the force area of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Powys.
Milford Haven is the seventh town out of a planned 17 locations to benefit from the reinvestment project.
Locations of the cameras have been decided through crime analysis mapping and in consultation with partner agencies.
Dafydd Llywelyn, Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I am very pleased to be able to say that another town has benefited from my pledge to reinvest in CCTV. Two of my team were out and about in Milford Haven on the 15th November - as the new CCTV cameras were being installed – engaging with residents and business owners on my behalf. The feedback received was very positive: The community feels much safer with the return of CCTV to the area. I look forward to seeing the project being delivered further again over the coming months.”
The project is being managed by a dedicated team at Dyfed-Powys Police, who are working behind the scenes to ensure the project keeps moving along. This includes working closely with contractors Baydale, who secured the contract for the instalment programme through a procurement process.
Mark Collins, Dyfed-Powys Police Chief Constable, said: “I am delighted that four cameras have been installed in Milford Haven in time for the busy build up to Christmas. All the hard work of the Project Team is paying off and CCTV is now live across seven towns in the force area. CCTV cameras will help us to deter and detect crimes in the places where they are proven to be needed the most.”
The PCC and his team has visited Milford Haven to speak to local business owners about the CCTV project and to find out what their thoughts are on the reinstatement of cameras in the town. All gave positive feedback including they felt it would bring peace of mind to businesses and that it should help with night-time economy-related issues in the town.
David Morgan, Deputy Manager of Lidl store, Milford Haven, said: “The new CCTV cameras will benefit the community and hopefully act as a deterrent. Whatever helps the community, all the better.”
