To mark Deaf Awareness Week 2025, the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is highlighting the availability of a British Sign Language (BSL) version of the Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Plan.

The video presents Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn’s key priorities in BSL, helping to make the Plan more accessible for Deaf residents across the force area.

PCC Dafydd Llywelyn said:

“Everyone deserves to feel included in policing and community safety,  and that starts with communication. I'm proud that our Police and Crime Plan is available in BSL, and I hope it supports greater understanding and trust across all communities.”

The OPCC is also encouraging greater awareness of BSL accessible policing services, including:

  • 999BSL – a free emergency video relay service, available 24/7 (co.uk)
  • Relay UK - If you have a hearing or speech impairment and you’ve pre-registered with the emergencySMS service, you can use the Dyfed-Powys textphone service 18000 or text
  • SignLive – a non-emergency BSL service available via the Dyfed-Powys Police website SignLive | Dyfed-Powys Police
