The Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed-Powys, Dafydd Llywelyn is pleased to support the launch of the first-ever Wales Safer Communities Awareness Week. This week-long event, taking place from 18 September to 22 September seeks to highlight criminal justice partners’ commitment to building and maintaining safer communities throughout the region.

In alignment with his vision as outlined in his Police and Crime Plan, PCC Llywelyn’s vision is to create a Dyfed-Powys of safe and thriving communities. This week is an opportunity for us to reaffirm our dedication to this vision, showcasing the progress we have made and the initiatives that continue to drive our efforts forward.

The Police and Crime Commissioner's Police and Crime Plan, developed in close consultation with the residents of Dyfed-Powys, outlines a comprehensive strategy to enhance community safety. We remain unwavering in our commitment to reducing crime, improving the lives of our residents, and building trust between criminal justice partners and the communities we serve.

Over the past several years, the Police and Crime Commissioner has worked determinedly to secure funding for community safety initiatives through the Home Office's Safer Streets Funds. These initiatives have played a pivotal role in making our neighbourhoods safer, more resilient, and better connected. To gain a deeper insight into these initiatives and their impact, we invite you to review our latest annual report, available here. This report provides a detailed overview of our achievements, challenges, and future goals.

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn said: “Throughout Wales Safer Communities Awareness Week, there are a series of events and activities taking place aimed at promoting community safety and fostering partnership work. These events will serve as an opportunity for us to connect with some of the communities we serve, listen to concerns, and collaborate on solutions to address their needs.

I would like to take this opportunity to also extend my gratitude to our dedicated officers, partner agencies, and the community members who work tirelessly to make Dyfed-Powys a safer place for all. Together, we can continue to build a future where everyone feels safe, valued, and empowered to thrive.”
