Dyfed-Powys Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn and his Youth Forum is to hold a Youth Conference in July to discuss issues that young people have highlighted as a priority for Police and partner organisations.
The conference, which will be held on the 5th of July at Parc y Scarlets Llanelli, aims to discuss findings from the recent ‘Y Sgwrs’ youth consultation that asked young people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Powys and Pembrokeshire for their views and experiences of mental health support for young victims of crime, substance mis-use and youth offending. The consultation asked teenagers and young adults to explain what works, what doesn’t and how things might be improved.
Local youth organisations, schools, colleges, universities and partners are being encouraged to attend the conference to engage with the PCC and his youth forum, so that they can be part of the solution for reducing crime in the Dyfed-Powys area and identify ways of working together to help support those who are at risk of offending.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations, exchange ideas, and network with like-minded individuals. The Youth Conference also offers a platform for young people to voice their concerns, share personal stories, and contribute to the development of strategies and policies that can make a real difference in their lives.
Speaking at the conference will be representatives from the Youth Forum, as well as;
- Rachel Wilson, from Choices, who provide specialist substance misuse service for young people in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire;
- Debbie Woodroffe of New Pathways, who provide mental health support services for young victims of crime;
- Gill Adams, Principal Manager of the Youth Support Service in Carmarthenshire
- Iwan Thomas and Celt Scourfield of PLANED, to talk about their CWBR Youth project.
