We have produced an Election Briefing document for PCC Candidates which provides general information about the election, our Office, and Dyfed-Powys Police.

Election guidance for PCC candidates and their agents, which includes information on qualifications for standing as a candidate, can be found on the Electoral Commission website. Please read their guidance, which provides practical advice for anyone who wants to stand as a candidate or be an agent at a PCC election.

The Independent Custody Visiting Association has also published some guidance for candidates regarding the Independent Custody Visiting Scheme.

The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners (APCC) have also created guidance for those who may be interested in standing for the role.

The below video produced by the APCC also gives an insight into how the public can have their say regarding who their PCC is.

Security Advice

During an election period, candidates are subject to heightened public exposure, and this can bring with it a number of pressures both on themselves and those close to them.

HMG has issued a joint video regarding the safety and security of candidates for forthcoming elections which is available to view below. It highlights where candidates can access relevant security advice and guidance that may be helpful during an election period and beyond, and promotes three key security messages, “be alert, plan ahead, and know what to do”.

Please encourage election teams to watch the video.

At the end of the video, there is a QR code to take you to more detailed advice and guidance from relevant websites such as Protect UK, the National Protective Security Authority, and the National Cyber Security Centre.  The website can also be found here: Security guidance for elections - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

We know candidates and their teams are concerned about cyber issues. Candidates can register their personal account details with the NCSC so they can easily notify candidates if they become aware of any suspicious activity associated with candidates personal accounts. The NCSC can offer candidates an extra layer of protection for their personal devices to protect them from clicking on malicious links. To sign up for these services please contact candidates2024@ncsc.gov.uk
