A PCC will work with the support of a team of professionals who each have specific responsibilities. They advise in areas such as finance, policy, performance and statistics, public engagement, collaborations and partnerships, and support a Commissioner to discharge responsibilities. These individuals are in politically restricted posts. 

The role of the Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer

This is a statutory role required by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.

The Chief Executive is responsible for the efficient and effective running of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, and as Monitoring Officer provides advice on strategic matters to the Police & Crime Commissioner, in support of his compliance with legislation and appropriate standards.

The role of the Chief Finance Officer

The Chief Finance Officer is a statutory role that a Police and Crime Commissioner must appoint. Their duty, as set out in legislation is to ensure that the financial affairs of the Commissioner are properly administered, having regard to their probity, legality and appropriate standards.

Police and Crime Plan

One of the key roles of a Police and Crime Commissioner is to produce a Police and Crime Plan which sets out the direction for policing for the next four years.

Volunteer Schemes

Volunteers work with the OPCC by supporting the PCC to ensure Dyfed-Powys Police act with professionalism, legitimacy and integrity through reviewing services provided by the Force.
